Reminiscent of beach days and ocean breezes, this chewy, flavorful saltwater taffy will transport you to summer at the shore. Infused with your favorite extract like sweet strawberry or tropical coconut, it's a nostalgic candy perfect for gifting or indulging in warm weather whimsy.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp flavored extract of choice
  • 2 drops of food coloring of choice

In a large pot with a candy thermometer, whisk together sugar and cornstarch.

Add butter, corn syrup, salt, water, vanilla, and flavored extract. Whisk to combine.

Cook over medium heat until mixture reaches 250°F, stirring frequently.

Add food coloring and stir to combine.

Pour into a greased heatproof dish and let cool for 5-10 minutes until taffy is cool enough to handle.

Stretch and fold taffy for 10-15 minutes until opaque.

Roll into a 30-inch log and cut into bite-size pieces.

Wrap each piece in parchment paper, twisting the ends to seal.
